Welcome to Winchelsea Beach A small seaside village in east
Sussex

Winchelsea Beach is where marshland meets the sea to create a friendly and relaxing little resort. There is no soft sand to sit on, and rather a lot of mud to wade through at low tide. We love it though, like the many families who look back with great nostalgia on the happy days they spent here from the 1930's onwards. The beach is still here, unspoiled, for young and old to enjoy, but do not expect any amenities. There is very little parking. In the summer there is an ice cream van, and there are several benches on the sea wall. Really, there is only sea and shingle, with flat wet sand at low tide and lots of little pools. Many species of birds frequent the sands, and it is actually their beach, which they graciously allow us to share. Winchelsea Beach is popular with dog walkers, lug diggers and folk with shrimping nets. It is also a good place for swimming and wind surfing.
Our village can provide
you with good food and simple entertainment, plus the vital
facilities of village life: church, doctor's surgery, pubs, a
hairdresser, local produce, a shop with groceries, fresh bread,
lottery, "cash back", a hole in the wall and a post office. The cash
machine accepts most card types. The P.O. will cash Lloyd's Bank
cheques. |
